Suprathoracic esophagogastrostomy for treating patients with esophageal carcinoma

【Abstract】 Objective:To discuss the superior Surgical procedure of choice for the treatment of esophageal carcinoma. Methods:From April 1984 to December 1994 esophagectomy was performed in 1090 cases of esophageal canciaoma,of which 210 received suprathoracic anastomosis and 880 Supra-Aortic arch anastomosis.These were analyzed retrospectively.Results:The anastomotic leakage rates of the two groups were very close,but other complications and residual stump cancer were less in the group of suprathoracic anastomosis.Conclusions:Suprathoracic anastomosis is a reasonable surgical procdure of choice for the treatment of esophageal carcinoma.

1984年4月～1994年12月对中下段食管鳞癌施行食管部分切除，食管胃(超)胸膜顶吻合210例(以下称“胸膜顶组”)，食管胃弓上吻合880例(以下称“弓上组”)，将两组对比分析，结果报告如下。
